Installing NumeraBooks

NumeraBooks ships for Windows. Download the installer only from a verified Numerawise source. The installer is currently unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning. Verify the source and SHA-512 before deciding to proceed, and follow your organization’s IT policy. Supported Windows versions, minimum RAM, and disk requirements are awaiting confirmation. Contact support before installing on a production machine.

Activating a licence

The application asks for a licence key on first run. Enter the key issued to your licensee name. Keys are verified locally; offline installations can open the books without a mandatory online check. Seat count and any expiry are encoded in the key. If activation does not match your purchase, contact support with your order reference; do not post your key publicly.

Setting up multi-user

Choose “Host multi-user on this computer” to host from the app, or use the standalone Database Server on an always-on machine. An access code is required. Up to five users share one company file; the host also counts as a seat. For separate offices, use a private network link such as Tailscale. Do not expose the database server to the public internet. Ask support for the current connection walkthrough before changing your network configuration.

Importing from QuickBooks Desktop

Keep a backup of the original company. Direct import reads an open QuickBooks company using Intuit’s SDK. Review the source and posted counts and investigate anything skipped. For spreadsheets, the Import Workbench lets you choose the file, identify row types, map columns, preview, and import. “Check What Imported” compares records with an external list or saved source IDs. Modern .xlsx and CSV are supported; save old .xls files as .xlsx first. Payroll imports as summarized journals. Validate reports and outstanding balances before adopting the new file as your working books.

Backups and recovery

The product includes automatic daily backups; the server retains 14 daily copies per company. Saved entries are written to the journal before confirmation. Preserve a separate backup before migration or maintenance. For a restoration, contact support for the current procedure and confirm you have the right company and backup date before replacing working data.
